When I have used the term Irish Stick Fighting in conversation, it is often met with something like "what is that, a couple of drunken guys in a bar beating each other with chair legs?". Well the answer is obviously no. Although Cead Bua and other Celtic martial arts were used frequently to defend property and settle disputes ranging on a variety of topics, fighting factions were often very well organized, strategically planned and very well thought out. They were not, as thought by many, a violent mob.

Cead Bua is the name of the Doyle Family Fighting Faction. What is a Fighting Faction you may ask? It is a group of Irish Martial Artists that train together, trust one another and are committed to reviving the art of the Irish Shillelagh! We get the name Cead Bua from Gregory Doyle who is the father of the head of the system, Glen Doyle. Literally translated it means "100 Victories" and it celebrates the long tradition the Doyle Family has in winning fights in Ireland and here in North America too!
The system has been passed down through the Doyle Family for Generations and it only within the last few years that it has been tought outside of the Family. We are pleased to be able to welcome new and dedicated students into the organization and share with them this amazing Martial Art. Our Schools are located in Milton Ont and Weymouth MA.
